Saddleworth Clog and Garlands Day of Dance, Uppermill
Saturday 5 April – Saddleworth Clog and Garlands Day of Dance, Uppermill
Saddleworth was our first dance out of the season. It was good meeting up and dancing with both the women’s and men’s teams of the area. The weather didn’t dim our spirits – it just meant we extended our time in a local pub! Here it was interesting talking to Saddleworth Morris Men about their involvement in teaching Northern Broadsides to morris dance for their play “An August Bank Holiday Lark”. As a group Rainbow Morris subsequently went to see the play at West Yorkshire Playhouse later in the month. It was an outstanding experience set around the time of World War One,with fantastic music and dancing and real emotion. That was a good evening out together.
