Judith’s blog – 400 Roses Day of Dance
On Saturday 12 September we danced at the first weekend of Saltaire’s famous annual Festival as guests of 400 Roses, who were celebrating their 10th birthday. There was a nice mixture of dance sides – Oakenhoof cloggers, Brittania Coconut Dancers, Rhubarb Tarts, Wayzgoose, Ripon City Morris and Coton Morris. The day started off wet but soon brightened up, giving a lovely atmosphere to the dancing and the outdoor festival events. We danced in small groups around the village and finished the day with a showcase at one of our favourite dance spots, the bandstand in Roberts Park. The teams performed one dance each and then joined in a mass belly dance with 400 Roses, there’s always a first time for everything!
