Fern House residential home
Bingley Monday 13th August 2018
Jill is a volunteer at Fern House, playing the piano for an hour once a week for the residents. Maggie’s next door neighbour is now a resident here so when Jill suggested that we dance there I was keen to do so. Although the weather has been so fantastic it was a bit cool for the residents to sit outside so we danced in the dining room – which was very hot.
Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and the audience showed their appreciation. We chatted to quite a few people and I discovered that one resident, Jack Greenwood, knew a lot about clogs. His father was a clog maker in Haworth and as a teenager Jack himself made clogs. He even had some photos of his father at work in his workshop. It was a delight to dance for these residents.
