A busy May weekend

It’s been a busy weekend for Rainbow – running a Workshop and dancing at a Folk Roots Festival.

Saturday, 13 May – Day of Dance, Victoria Hall, Saltaire

Once again, we enjoyed running a workshop for anyone who fancied having a go at morris dancing.  We were delighted that 7 people attended.  We hope they enjoyed learning to dance Shawforth – and the customary outdoor performance at the end of the Workshop, designed to give them an idea of what it’s like to “dance out”.

Sunday, 14 May – Hebden Bridge Folk Roots Festival

Hebden Bridge Hill Millies invited us to once again be part of this event, which was most enjoyable.  Hebden Bridge was packed and looking lovely in the Spring sunshine.  An appreciative audience watched us dance with Stone the Crows and the hosts.  Thanks for the beer tokens!

Hebden Bridge Folk Roots Festival 14 May 2017

It was a lovely sunny Sunday and a few of us had an adventure travelling to Hebden Bridge on the bus. We enjoyed a look round the market before the dancing began in the market square. A large crowd gathered to watch and seemed to be enjoying all the dancing. We finished our session with Festival Frolic and lots of children and adults joined in. We used our drinks tokens in a bar before recommencing our dancing by the river.

After this session finished four of still had drinks tokens left so we returned to the bar. Someone was playing the guitar so we were persuaded to give a demonstration. We danced Hindley Street in the smallest space imaginable and to a very unusual tune. It was great fun! We finished our adventure by returning home on the bus.

A great day out.
