RAINBOW MORRIS WORKSHOP FOR STUDENTS AT HAZELBECK SCHOOL JANUARY 25TH

On Monday January 25TH Rainbow were guests of Hazelbeck School. We were the first event in their ‘Arts Week’ on a day when the theme was colour. Twenty or so students watched us perform several dances before Judith taught them the Festival Frolic in a workshop session.

It was a fast learning curve for all of us as shortly after the workshop ended, the newly taught dance was performed to the whole school who numbered around 100, including teaching staff and support workers. Our musicians, Terry and Ted, kept the students entertained with lively tunes as the rest of the school was brought in to watch. Pupils were encouraged to contribute where possible either by dancing, clapping or playing percussion instruments.

We were impressed with the organisation in the school where the staff work with pupils with a very wide spectrum of physical and mental abilities. They were very welcomed us very warmly to their campus adjacent to Beckfoot School near Cottingley.
